Holmes vs Houdini #2 Coming Out Next Week!

“The easiest way to attract a crowd is to let it be known that at a given time and a given place someone is going to attempt something that in the event of failure will mean sudden death.” – Harry HoudiniWell, no one died last month but our new mash-up series featuring Sherlock Holmes, Harry Houdini, magic, suspense, drugs, spiritualism and death did debut with great acclaim and sold out at every convention we attended.  The question by all was whether the follow-up issue would contain just as much fun and mystery? The answer: elementary, of course.Readers will be able to continue experiencing the forced partnership of these two great literary figures next Wednesday (November 12th) when SHERLOCK HOLMES vs HARRY HOUDINI #2 will be released at comic book shops around the world.Cover by Aaron CampbellIn HOLMES v HOUDINI #2, we pick up after a grotesque murder (suicide by axe?) at Harry Houdini’s show.  The legendary magician clashes with Sherlock Holmes over the great detective’s refusal to allow Houdini to help bring the perpetrator to justice. But the proud Houdini won’t take no for an answer, leading to an epic game of cat-and-mouse in London’s dangerous streets.

Killing Shakespeare in his own city!

I returned just over 24 hours ago from a whirlwind trip to London where I took part in the London Comic-Con (the weekend of Oct 24-26th). This was my third time over the pond for a show and I'm growing more and more attached to the city. In addition to the show I swung by the Sherlock Holmes Museum and the Globe Theatre. Both incredibly inspiring spots. Here are some pics from this weekend. Is that really how the final issue of HOLMES VS HOUDINI ends?!!! The obligatory signage. Yes, this is where Anthony stayed. On a yacht. The comic book lifestyle is a rough one, isn't it...?  "You have failed this comic-con."Anthony and amazing artist Sonia Leong.Awkward photo attempt with Diamond UK's Ben Cornish! You can take the boy of out of Canada, but you can't keep Canada from the boy...Hamlet Cosplay! Out of focus but we wanted to get him in our album this year!Of course Anthony had to swing by the Holmes Museum...These two are distant relatives of Houdini. Gamora does not approve. "I want the last copy of HOLMES VS HOUDINI!" "No, I want it!"Someone's excited about Kill Shakespeare!Dr. Horrible approves. The Gameplay's the thing and it's FINALLY here!

The Board Games are FINALLY arriving.

It's been a LONG process (much longer than we ever expected and we're sorry about that), but we are starting to receive tweets and emails that you, our supporters, are receiving your copies of Kill Shakespeare: The Board Game.

Anthony and I had the privilege to see the game in Edmonton and New York, and we can tell you that it drew a LOT of attention from passer-by's. We even had one guy offer to buy the display copy for $200!

But we didn't want to leave it to total strangers to get a look at our new baby, so below are some pics of the game. I hope you'll agree that while it has taken some time to get ready, it looks like time well spent.

Also, the amazing folks at IDW want you to have the best game-playing experience possible. Once you get your game if you have ANY questions about how a rule works simply tweet @IDWGames or email Nate Murray: Nate@idwpublishing.com with that question and within 72 hours Nate will post a short video that will show you exactly how that part of the game works.

Yes, that's right, personalized rule explanations! That's pretty Bard-ass if I do say so myself.

(oh Conor, you're such a wit)

Now go swoon over some awesome game pictures!

Each character has their own unique player card that outlines their specific strengths and weaknessesAll the card types spread out.All the beautiful pieces of the game. The Game Board has to be FELT to be believed. The stretch goal we hit definitely gave the board a "lux" feel. Each turn you'll be forced to deal with world changing scenarios and take on challenging quests based on Shakespeare's plays. Each turn you're going to need to buy, trade or otherwise get your hands on resources like troops, stolen letters, and maps of cities in order to stop Richard and Lady M.Oh yeah, this game has some meat. Look at the back of the box!The game comes with a super high-end version of the very first issue of Kill ShakespeareYour new favouite rulebook.

Kill Shakespeare in London!

Though I'm still recovering from the melee that was the New York Comic-Con this past weekend, I am now preparing for one final comic-con (for me) this year. And is it not fitting that it'll be in the place that Shakespeare became famous - London, England? The MCM London show last October - completely packed and crazy!Yes, I'm heading to London next week for the London MCM Comic-Con. Conor attended the show back in May and I attended a couple of the show last year and they were all great. It's an amazing city with a huge appetite for anything geek (and Shakespeare). There are a great group of organizers involved and the crowds are huge and wild. The show takes place next Friday (October 24) until Sunday (the 26th) and I will be there all three days. Once I have my exact table number (and panel info) I'll post them online but it shouldn't be too hard to find me at the show.So if you're in London please spread the word - the Canadian is invading! The Canadian is invading!

Two books released next Wednesday (October 1st)!

Well, when it rains, it pours...Next week is going to be a busy one for us as we are releasing on Wed, Oct 1st not one but TWO comic book issues on the same day!First off, we are releasing the fourth and final issue of our latest Kill Shakespeare mini-series, THE MASK OF NIGHT. Betrayed by the vicious cannibal Captain Lucius, Viola and Hamlet must undertake an odds-defying mission to punish a murder most foul.  It’s an ending that features adventure, romance, revenge, amazing art (by Andy Belanger) and death – all the good parts of a Shakespearean tale. And we're quite proud to release the debut issue of our new series with Dynamite Comics, SHERLOCK HOLMES vs HARRY HOUDINI. In this first issue, famed detective Sherlock Holmes and brash showman Harry Houdini must combine forces to defeat a mysterious mystic dedicated to destroying Houdini’s career and anyone who gets in his way.We quite enjoyed the ability to bring these two larger-than-life figures together and see what happens when they first meet.  Do they become BFFs? Do they get under each other’s skin?  And who is worthy of doing battle with both (if there is anyone at all)?  We are working with talented Carlos Furuzuno and the talented team at Dynamite Comics to bring our story to life. The Mask of Night #4 cover by Andy Belanger; Sherlock Holmes vs. Harry Houdini Cover B by John Cassady. To read a preview of the first couple pages of Holmes vs. Houdini, click here. So go to your local comic shop next Wednesday and check out both issues!
