Pics from Calgary Expo

We had a simply amazing time in Calgary last year.  We’ve been to many Cons over the last two years and Calgary is definitely, if not the best, then right up there.  We organizers were absolutely fantastic, the crowds amazing, and people were super-excited to see us there.  So much so, in fact, that sold out of trade paperbacks by Saturday at 2pm and after that only had artwork and individual issues to sign (the latter of which sold out Sunday at 1pm).

Thanks to everyone associated with the event for a great time.  Thanks to the organizers, to the fellow artists and creators, to the organizers of the Joe Shuster Awards (which I missed as I was at our table but Conor attended), to the CBC for running our profile that very weekend, and for everyone who stopped by to chat with us.  I’ve said it many time already but I’ll say it again – one of the best parts of our time with Kill Shakespeare thus far has been being able to chat with fans and readers at conventions.  We look forward to our next one – Baltimore in August!

Here are various photos taken over the weekend.

Anthony did a pre-Con signing at Happy Harbor Comics in Edmonton, run by the excellent Jay Bardyla

Conor is pretty intimidating as the Imperial Guard...

Anthony with actor Gabriel Hogan, who starred on one of Anthony's favourite shows of all time, TRADERS.

I don't want to start any rumours, but there were some filmmakers interested in the book...

... who were already planning out the cinematography.

Anthony with writer/creator Savannah, who also works the Stratford Festival

Anthony with Jane Renyk (a top English/media teacher in Calgary) and Grahame Renyk, who worked on the Canadian Adaptations of Shakespeare Project.

AJ bought the last Special Con Special of the weekend!

Jim and Kate - our final customers of the Con!

Conor would do anything for a sale - including the Time Warp dance. Though Andy wasn't buying it.

Booo! Volunteer Savannah deserved to be heckled all weekend. Booo!

Conor with volunteer coordinator Doug - who also didn't think that Anthony existed so posed with him...

Thanks, we were kicking ourselves a bit that we didn’t bring more, but I guess all that means is the local comic shops and book stores will do better business.

But wow, what a GREAT convention. I was in the comic store I used to manage (years ago) and I was RAVING about the show to everyone.
